The Cave Singers @ Neumos, Seattle

The Cave Singers play Nuemos in Seattle

The Cave Singers put on an inspired show last night at Neumos. It was a benefit for Governor Gregoire, and the atmosphere was charged. And so was my recorder. Here are three of my favorites, with ‘Helen’ opening the show, followed by ‘Cold Eye’ at the halfway point, then the iconic ‘Dancing On Our Graves’ closing the set. Whatever you do, never, ever, miss this band if you have a chance to see them. And get hold of their CD. Best $15 you’ll ever spend. Besides a ticket to their show :).

BTW: this is really only the second time I’ve used the audio recorder at a live show. I got the Zoom H4 mainly for recording nature sounds for my upcoming ‘Virtual Nature Tours.com’ site (woo wee! wait til you see this!) and capturing birds and waterfalls is cake comparatively. Getting speakers blasting away without blasting the levels is sometimes tricky. BUT… think I understand the settings better. The trick doing live bootlegs is getting in the right spot from the stage, and having the levels right so the crowd doesn’t get too loud. I’ve been listening to this show nearly non-stop all day, and I’m quite pleased. It’s very realistic of how it actually sounded, with folks jabbering about all sorts of silly stuff in the background. If anybody is interested in getting a full copy of the show (assuming the band doesn’t mind) I’d be glad to send a download link–click on the about page, and use the contact form). Long live The Cave Singers!
